The stone residence, another Garland house built by the stonemason Pearse, in 1858, in same distinctive technique (of Irish origin), seen frequently in this locale; very large and well detailed.
A friend and I would go to the Garland's and ride the horses, but we could only walk and trot on them. Then we would go to the house and bring in a bunch of firewood for their cookstove. Joe and his sister only lived in the kitchen part of the house - no hydro and no running water. I always wondered what the rest of the house was like. Sad to know it is gone.
Now was that friend of yours Liz Harding? I am her brother Peter Harding. We both would spend a lot of time at old Joe's helping both him and his sister, Mrs. Windsor. So many memories

Great times in the old barn's
Is this house still standing?? I remember old Joe driving his team of horses to the store for supplies
Unfortunatley the old place was levelled a number of years ago. Lots of history lost.
